Quincy Medical Center Holds Poster Contest for High School Juniors and Seniors in Conjunction With Women's Health Event

Quincy Medical Center Partners with Quincy and North Quincy High School Juniors and Seniors to Design a Wellness Poster and Win a $250 Scholarship

Posters will be displayed during Quincy Medical Center’s Ladies Night Out! Wellness Fair November 12

Quincy Medical Center, a Steward Family Hospital, is inviting all juniors and seniors at Quincy High School and North Quincy High School to submit a poster design for the Quincy Medical Center Health & Wellness Poster Contest.  A winner will be chosen from each high school and awarded a $250 scholarship. All posters will be displayed during Quincy Medical Center’s free Ladies Night Out! A Celebration of Healthy Minds, Bodies and Spirits, on Tuesday, November 12, 2012 at Quincy High School from 5:30 – 8 p.m. The Ladies Night Out! event will feature special guest Loretta LaRoche, acclaimed speaker, author, stress management and humor consultant and will be hosted by Mary Richardson, Steward Health Care Community Liaison and former co-anchor of WCVB-TV Chronicle. In addition, guests can participate in fitness demonstrations, win prizes, enjoy delicious, healthy foods and ask expert physicians for advice. Loretta LaRoche will perform and share her prescription of laughter to manage stress. The event is free. Space is limited and registration is required. Call 1-800-488-5959 to reserve a space.

In keeping with the theme of the event, students are encouraged to design posters that promote health and wellness and include messages such as: the healthy mind/body connection, healthy eating, physical fitness, good sleep habits, etc. They must be original, created by the student and designed on the poster board provided. Poster boards can be picked up at the school office starting October 23, 2013. Submissions will be accepted until Friday, November 8, 2013 at 2:30 p.m.  Two winners will be selected, one from each high school, to receive a $250 scholarship. Announcements at the Ladies Night Out! event on November 12. Winners and runners-up will have their posters displayed at Quincy Medical Center to continue to raise awareness of health and wellness in the community.
